The Five Elements
A Guided Creative Exploration
An online creative experience exploring each of the Five Elements through reflection, observation, and creative practice.
This experience invites you to slow down and explore the Five Elements as living symbols that deepen your relationship with yourself and the natural world. Together we’ll use reflection, observation, and simple creative practices to discover what resonates with your own experience.
- Two live online gatherings
- Creative exploration between sessions
- No art experience required
The Five Elements & Creative Practice
The Five Elements serve as creative mirrors, inviting you to observe yourself, your relationship with nature, and the world around you.
A Note on the Five Elements
Many cultures have used elemental symbolism to describe different aspects of life and human experience.
Rather than following one particular tradition, this workshop draws on the symbolic language of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether as a creative framework for reflection and creative exploration. In this workshop, the elements are explored not only as parts of nature, but also as symbols that can help us reflect on our own experience.
Instead of offering fixed interpretations or answers, each element becomes a creative mirror, inviting you to notice what resonates with your own experience and discover personal meaning through the creative process.
During this experience you'll be invited to explore through:
- Guided visualization: an imaginative journey through the Five Elements
- Personal reflection: noticing your thoughts, feelings, and observations
- The Five Mirrors: five perspectives for observing yourself, others, and nature
- Symbolic observation: noticing how the Five Elements appear in everyday life and what they awaken in you.
- Creative expression: exploring your experience through drawing, painting, writing, photography, collage, or any medium that feels natural to you.
How the Experience Unfolds
🌱 Discover
Session 1 • Discovery Gathering
Together, we’ll begin by introducing the Alkhemia Path and the Five Elements. I’ll then guide you through a gentle visualization, followed by time for personal reflection and an introduction to the creative invitations that will support your exploration between our two gatherings.
🌿 Explore
Creative Exploration Between Sessions
Between our two gatherings, you’ll continue exploring at your own pace. You might notice the colours of a sunset, sketch a shape that catches your attention, write about something you’ve observed, photograph patterns in nature, or create in whatever way feels meaningful to you.
Your Creative Companion PDF will offer gentle prompts, reflections, and creative invitations to support your exploration between sessions.
If questions arise along the way, you’re always welcome to reach out.
There is no right way to do this.
No homework.
Simply an invitation to notice, create, and explore.
🌳 Integrate
Session 2 • Integration Gathering
About four to five weeks later, we’ll come together again to reflect on what you’ve noticed, share discoveries if you wish, and integrate the patterns and personal meaning that emerged along the way.

No art supplies are needed during our first live gathering.
After our first gathering, you’ll choose whatever materials feel right for you. This could be watercolours, coloured pencils, collage, photography, writing, natural objects, or any creative medium you enjoy.
Presented in Collaboration With
This workshop is presented in collaboration with the Baja California Node of the Alkhemia Path, part of the YOSOY Network.
The Alkhemia Path
Rooted in the ancient etymology of Khem, meaning “the black earth of the Nile,” the Alkhemia Path offers the symbolic and philosophical framework for this experience.
It invites each person to become a living laboratory by exploring greater awareness through reflection, moving from unconsciousness to consciousness, from separation to unity, and from insight into embodied action.
Paint Your Codex
Paint Your Codex invites people to slow down, notice what is present within and around them, and explore it through reflection and creative practice.
Creativity becomes a language for reconnecting with yourself through presence, symbolism, and personal discovery.
For this workshop, the Baja California Node brings the perspective and principles of the Alkhemia Path, while Paint Your Codex brings those principles into lived experience through creative exploration.
Together, they create a space where participants can explore the relationship between the Five Elements, symbolism, and their own inner landscape.
No previous knowledge of the Alkhemia Path or the YOSOY Network is needed. Curiosity and a willingness to explore are all that’s required.
Meet Your Facilitators
Mélanie Sanchez
Founder of Paint Your Codex • Workshop Facilitator
Mélanie is an artist, facilitator, and designer who created Paint Your Codex to help people reconnect with themselves through symbolism, reflection, and creative exploration.
She guides gentle workshops where curiosity, presence, and personal discovery take precedence over artistic skill. Her approach invites each person to discover their own meaning rather than offering predefined answers.
Ana Yamamoto
Co-Facilitator • Alkhemia Path Guide (Baja california Node)
Ana is a multidisciplinary artist passionate about visual storytelling and weaving together intuition, creativity, and self-knowledge through art and design.
Through the Alkhemia Path, Ana explores art as a meaningful part of the alchemical journey of self-discovery. In this collaboration, she brings that perspective into the Five Elements workshop, complementing the creative approach of Paint Your Codex.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an art class?
No. While creativity is at the heart of the experience, this isn’t an art class focused on artistic techniques or creating a finished piece. Instead, you’ll use creative expression as a way to reflect, observe, and discover personal meaning through the symbolism of the Five Elements.
Do I need any artistic experience?
Not at all. This experience is open to everyone, whether you’re an experienced artist or simply curious to try something new. You won’t be asked to create “good” art or use any particular technique. You might choose to write, sketch, paint, photograph textures, collect natural objects, or simply observe. The focus is on personal exploration, noticing what resonates with you, and expressing your own experience, not on artistic skill.
What creative materials can I use?
You’re welcome to work with whatever creative medium feels most natural to you. Watercolour is one possibility, but drawing, collage, mixed media, writing, photography, or other forms of creative expression are equally welcome.
Why use creativity in this experience?
Creativity complements reflection by giving form to what we’re noticing. By observing, reflecting, and expressing what emerges through creative practice, the Five Elements become something we experience rather than simply think about. The focus isn’t on creating art for others, but on discovering personal meaning through the creative process.
What if I’m not familiar with the Five Elements or the Alkhemia Path?
No prior knowledge is needed. Whether you’re completely new to the Five Elements and the Alkhemia Path or already familiar with them, this experience is designed to be welcoming and accessible. We’ll gently introduce the ideas that support our creative exploration, inviting you to engage with them in your own way.
How much time should I expect to spend between gatherings?
There’s no set amount of time to spend between gatherings. Between our live sessions, you’ll be invited to continue exploring the Five Elements through observation, reflection, and creative practice. Some participants may create a little each week, while others may prefer longer creative sessions. You’re free to engage with the experience in whatever rhythm feels natural for you.
Do I have to share what I create?
Sharing is always an invitation, never an expectation. During our integration gathering, you’ll have the opportunity to share your creative explorations, reflections, or insights, whatever you’d like to bring to the conversation. You’re equally welcome to simply listen and reflect alongside the group.
What if I can’t attend the Integration Gathering?
We encourage participants to attend both live gatherings, as they are designed to be part of one complete experience. If you’re unable to join the Integration Gathering, you’ll still be able to complete your personal exploration.
